Confident, skilled and proud-young people leading a construction project on Wick Road.
Wick Award is funding the Build up project giving local young people the opportunity to make decisions, influence the local environment and see the real-life impact they can have.
We have started on the project to transform the corner of Wick road/ Morning lane, making it accessible and attractive for residents. Build up Foundation have recruited two young local people to apprentice roles to lead the project.
Build Up have raised an incredible £50,000 to fund an exciting youth led project to improve the outside space on the corner of Wick Road and Flanders way.
Wick Award is contributing £15,00 to the project which will support young people to re-design their own corner of Hackney Wick.

The after school club project at Hub 67 was set up to address the lack of youth provision in the South Hackney area. The after school club was delivered weekly between 4-5:30pm for 12 plus children aged 7-14, during term time October-December.
Children that attended the club, took part in creative activities and workshops such as print making, response to music, self portraiture and more. The workshops were run by local artists who had volunteered to lead them. Currently the workshops are being held with the artists Kirtsty Reynolds.
The Hackney Wick Youth Voice project started in December 2016, with the aim of empowering young people in Hackney Wick to have their voices heard. It is commissioned by Wick Award, through the National Lottery “Big Local” initiative.
The project is led by Luke alongside two paid young project assistants and a panel of local young people. They have run events and workshops in the local area and in local schools, and have consulted with local decision-makers about the future of Hackney Wick and how the area could be improved for young people.
